dung and the proper accessories thereof in connection with buildings
which were made by the London County Council on the twentysecond
day of June in the year One thousand eight hundred and

OFFENSIVE TRADES.
A letter was received from the London County Council stating
the Local Government Board had confirmed the Order made by
the Council on 29th March, declaring the business of a dresser
of fish skins to be an offensive business within the meaning of
Section 19 (1) (b) of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891.
At the present time there is no known dresser of fish skins
within the Borough of Poplar.
The Public Health and Housing Committee were informed that
the Public Health Committee of the London County Council were
of opinion that it is desirable the by-laws made by the Council
in relation to offensive trades should be amended, and they had
accordingly caused draft amended by-laws to be prepared. The
most important amendment which it was proposed to make is to
require that, in the case of every business, all offensive processes
be conducted in a closed chamber, provision being moreover made
for the adequate ventilation of such chamber and the destruction
of offensive vapours.
