*Mr. Joseph Johnson reported—
" Beyond trifling defects, which were soon put right, the cabins
and all apparatus were found to be in a tolerably good condition,
the registered boats exceptionally so. No over-crowding
was discovered.
"Respecting the canal boat 'Kennet,' No. 324, on the 4th
of May, I endorsed notice served on the owner by the inspector
at Berkhampstead, requiring certain works to be done to the
cabins in a given time. The work had been duly executed at
time of my inspection, and the notice was returned to Berkhampstead.
"No cases of infectious diseases were found to be existing.
One 'master's' wife died of pneumonia during the year,
and the boat was dealt with in the district of registration."
†Mr. Langley's 39 inspections of non-registered boats included
two visits to one boat.
‡Mr. Miners' 55 inspections of non-registered boats included two
visits to each of four boats.
