When the applications were made the hearings were adjourned
sine die. Upon the result of the analysts at Somerset House, the
magistrate dismissed the first summons, and gave three guineas costs
against Council. The other two summonses were withdrawn.

In two instances applications were made to the Court for the
third samples produced to be sent to Somerset House for an
independent analysis.
The samples in dispute were:—
(1) Nov. 5th, adulterated with 7.8 per cent. of foreign fat
(2) Dec. 5th, adulterated with 9.8 per cent. of foreign fat.
When the applications were made the hearings were adjourned
sine die. Upon the result of the analysts at Somerset House the first
summons was dismissed and £3 3s. 0d. costs given against the
Council. The Somerset House authorities reported the second
sample to be genuine. The summons was withdrawn. The
magistrate gave 5 guineas costs against the Council
