BAKEHOUSES.
The bakehouses throughout the district have been periodically
visited, and the conditions in some instances necessitating intimation
service from dirty walls and flooring accumulations, of sweepings
or ashes beneath the troughs, and the bi-annual cleansing not carried
out at the stated periods. With two exceptions the bakehouses of
the district are conducted on the ground level.
DAIRIES, MILKSHOPS, AND OFFENSIVE BUSINESSES.
The milkshops numbering 31 on the register, and offensive
businesses in the district have been periodically visited. In no
instance has it been necessary to report infringements. An intimation
in the case of offensive business being sufficient to secure
amendment.
CANAL BOATS.
Fifty-seven boats have been examined; of the registered boats, one
only was found in an unsatisfactory condition.
Of the unregistered barges, the majority of cabins are totally unfit
for use as habitations, for which it is feared many of them are at
times improperly used.
