The attention of the Committee was called to leaflets upon "Milk
and Tuberculosis," and "How to prevent Consumption." These
leaflets are published by the National Association tor the Prevention
of Consumption and other forms of Tuberculosis. With a view to
the prevention of Consumption, and to the reduction in the mortality
from the disease, it was suggested that a quantity of these leaflets
(which had been drawn up under the supervision of the highest
medical authorities) should be purchased from the Association, and
sent for distribution to district visitors, nurses, and clergymen, also
to medical practitioners and others. The Committee directed that
1000 of each of the leaflets in question be purchased and circulated
as suggested.
The leaflets were forwarded to forty clergymen and two nursing
homes in the parishes of Poplar and Bromley.
The leaflets were sent with a circular letter, which stated that
copies would be supplied for distribution in homes where consumptive
cases unfortunately existed. One clergyman referred to the matter
from his pulpit, and he wrote, "I am asked on all hands for
copies."
