Also in company with the Medical Officer of Health on the 7th
July, I visited a yard adjoining the Childe Harold P.H. in Railway
Street, and saw four quarters of beef on a costermonger's barrow.
The beef had been deposited on the previous day. The meat was
not bad enough to seize but would not keep for any length of time,
and as the men in whose possession the meat was found stated that
it was going into the Limehouse district, the Medical Officer of
Health for that district was communicated with.
The markets and stalls have been inspected throughout the year
with a view of detecting diseased and unwholesome food, and only
in three instances has there been occasion to interfere.
Bakehouses.
I have also inspected the whole of the bakehouses in my district,
and the notices as to defective drains and lime-whiting were served
and the nuisances abated.
Cow and Slaughter-houses.
I have made periodical inspections throughout the year of the
above houses.
The licensed cow-houses number 3
The licensed slaughter-houses 4
I have made inspections of the under-mentioned schools :—
Marner Street, High Street,
Old Palace, Knapp Road,
Bromley National, Wesleyan, Tidey Street,
Priory Street, St. Agnes, R.C
