During the early part of the year, on the demise of Mr. Raymond,
late Inspector of Nuisances in Manufactories, very important increased
duties have been added, consisting of attention to nuisances, &c., in
factories and workshops, &c., constant periodical inspection of
bakehouses, and continued and close attention to smoke nuisances
arising from the various factories within and without the district.
In the latter part of the year by reason of the changes in local
government, it has further devolved upon me to enforce the regulations
and bye-laws of the London County Council (previously
entrusted to that body) relating to offensive trades, slaughterhouses,
cowsheds and dairies ; the periodic.,1 inspection of registered milk
shops in the district and the enforcement of the regulations made by
"The London County Council" on that behalf for the purpose of
obtaining cleanliness in premises and utensils.
New drainage systems of which plans and particulars were
submitted for approval and duly authorised, have been laid at the
undermentioned premises:—
509, 511, Old Ford Road (entire system)
24, 25, Harley Street (entire system).
Twelve new houses, Mary Street, North side (entire systems).
Twelve „ „ Stour Road, South side (entire systems).
Malmesbury Road Board School, New Science Rooms (entire
system).
Falcon Brewery, Old Ford Road (entire system).
Four new houses, Dace Road, North side (entire systems).
Twenty-six new houses, Bream Street (entire systems).
Lea Chemical Works, White Post Lane (partial).
