HYGIENE IN BARBERS AND HAIRDRESSERS SHOPS:—
London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1954 (Section 18)
In my last annual report I reported that there were 83 hairdressers
and barbers establishments in the Borough and that the
appointed day for registration had been fixed for the 1st January,
1956. Arrangements for registration were completed satisfactorily
early in the year, and at the 31st December, the establishments
registered with the Council numbered 87. Inspections were made at
the time of registration and so far as the present establishment of
Public Health Inspectors will allow, periodical inspections are
carried out.
FREE HAND WASHING FACILITIES IN COUNCIL PUBLIC
CONVENIENCES.
This service was inaugurated in August, 1950. Soap and paper
towels are provided free on request and notices to this effect are
exhibited in all of the Council's public conveniences.
MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE SERVICES:—
The Maternity and Child Welfare services have been the
responsibility of the London County Council since 1948. Paddington
is included in Division 2 of the London County Council Services
and the administrative centre is at the Divisional Office at 313-319
Harrow Road, W. 9.
