notification of births.—Notifications were received relating to 3,663 births occurring in Paddington, 3,555
being live births and 108 stillbirths. Medical practitioners sent 763 notifications, midwives 2,812, maternity assistants
119, and other persons 12.
Further analysis shows that 2,167 notifications were sent by Paddington Hospital, 732 by St. Mary's Hospital, and
64 by Nursing Homes. A comparison of the Notification Register with the Returns supplied by the Registrars shows
that of the 3,697 births registered during the year, only four were not notified.
