Work was commenced on the erection of the proposed nursery on the site of Nos. 38/46, Westbourne Park
Road but, owing to the transference of labour to the repair of bomb-damaged houses, little progress was made.
Consideration was therefore given to the desirability and need for completion, bearing in mind the state of the
War, and a suggestion for utilising the site for temporary housing purposes, and it was decided that, having regard
to the scarcity of labour for this type of work and other factors, the need would have disappeared by the time the
nursery was likely to be completed. It was consequently decided to take no further steps in the matter.
There are two nursery schools in the Borough, provided by the London County Council, viz., at Senior Street
School and at Beauchamp Lodge, Warwick Crescent.
