INFANTILE MORTALITY.
During the year 1938 there were 1,888 births, and 125 deaths of children under the age of
twelve months in the Borough. These figures give an infantile mortality rate (deaths of infants
under twelve months to each 1,000 live births) of 66.
The following table gives the births and the infantile deaths and death-rates for the year 1938
in England and Wales, in London, in the Borough and in the various wards of the Borough. The
infantile mortality rates for 1933 to 1937 are given for comparison.
