DIPHTHERIA.
(Including Membranous Croup.)
During 1937 there were 214 cases of diphtheria notified, and none of membranous croup. The
sex-age distribution of these cases is shown in Table A on page 16.

Two hundred and eleven patients were removed to Isolation Hospitals. The remaining cases
were treated at home, proper facilities being available for isolation and treatment. Five deaths
from this disease occurred during 1937, 3 of the deaths being those of children under the age of
5 years.
