DIPHTHERIA.
(Including Membranous Croup.)
During 1936 there were 215 cases of diptheria notified, and none of membranous croup. Of the
215 cases, 6 were under the age of 1 year, 71 between the ages of 1 and 5 years, 98 between the ages
of 5 and 15 years, 31 between the ages of 15 and 35 years, and 9 aged 35 years and upwards.
Two hundred and seven patients were removed to Isolation Hospitals. The remaining cases
were treated at home, proper facilities being available for isolation and treatment. Five deaths
from this disease occurred during 193G, 3 of the deaths being those of children under the age of
5 years.
