Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1928.
The Council is responsible for enforcing the provisions of this Act and the Medical Officer of Health
and the male Sanitary Inspectors have been authorised to act as officers for this purpose.
During the year certain articles were added to the list of those which may be graded and marked.
At the end of the year Regulations were in force applicable to :—
Apples; Honey;
Asparagus; Horseradish;
Beef; Hothouse Grapes;
Blackcurrants; Jam;
Bottled Fruits; Kidney and Runner Beans;
Bottled Vegetables; Leeks;
Broccoli; Loganberries;
Brussels Sprouts; Malt Extract and Malt Flour;
Bunched Carrots; Mushrooms;
Cabbage Greens and Cabbages; Natural Rhubarb;
Cabbage Lettuce; Parsnips;
Canned Fruits; Pears;
Canned Vegetables; Plums;
Carrots; Potatoes;
Cauliflower; Radishes;
Celery; Raspberries;
Cherries; Red Beet;
Cheshire Cheese; Red Currants;
Cider; Ripe Onions and Shallots;
Dressed Poultry; Salad (Spring) Onions;
Eggs; Stilton Cheese;

No premises used by way of trade or for purposes of gain for the cold storage or chemical storage
of eggs were registered during the year.
Eight samples of canned fruit and vegetables were procured during the year comprising strawberries
1, blackcurrants 1, peas 2, plums 2, loganberries 1, raspberries 1. All were found to comply
with the regulations applicable.
