St. Mary's Hospital Tuberculosis Dispensary.
This dispensary is voluntary and was subsidised by a grant of £1,085 from the Paddington
Borough Council during the year 1934.
A full account of this Dispensary and its activities will be found in the annual reports for 1924
and 1925, the only subsequent change being the transference of the Dispensary in April, 1933, from
the old building to the newly-erected extension of the Hospital.
During 1934, 98 refills were done in Artificial Pneumothorax cases.
Tuberculin (bacillary emulsion) was successfully used in surgical cases such as epididymitis,
glands and eye conditions, and one case of Bazin's disease.
During the year beds were frequently placed at the disposal of the Tuberculosis Officer by the
Inoculation Department of the Hospital. These were of great service in the diagnosis and treatment
of patients.
