The highest rate recorded in any metropolitan area was that of Shoreditch (141 per 1,000),
and the lowest that of Chelsea (67 per 1,000). No deaths of infants under one year of age
occurred in Lancaster Gate, East, Ward during the past year; the mortality (persons) observed
in the remaining Wards of the Borough ranged from 72 in Hyde Park to 146 in Church.
An examination of the following mortality rates shows that the only age-groups with rates
above the averages were those of males aged 3-6 months and females 9-12 months. Among
the rates for groups of diseases, those from "Diarrhoeal Diseases" (both sexes), "Tuberculous
Diseases" (females), and "All other Causes" (both sexes) were in excess of the averages.
