In 1911 the rainfall for those three months amounted to 5.45 ins., measured on 20 days; last
year the total was 9 68 ins., measured on 51 days. The total amount of bright sunshine in the
former year was 789 hrs. 12 mins., measured on 82 days, and averaging rather more than 9.5 hrs.
per day, while in the latter year the total was 469 hrs. 56 mins., measured on 85 days, averaging
5.5 hrs. per day. The meteorology of these months has a special interest for those engaged in
preventive medicine, as the prevalence of infantile, or summer, diarrhœa is intimately associated
with temperature and rainfall.
