Reverting to the figures for the Borough, it will be seen from Table 6 that the morbidity
rate for females of all ages from diphtheria (096) was higher in 1908 than the quinquennial
mean (0.91), and that the increased prevalence of scarlet fever was greater among males (5.07
compared with 3.36) than females (3.95 compared with 3.02). Ignoring membranons croup,
the sex-morbidity rates for all the other diseases during the past year were below the
respective means.
