As the number of houses on the Register increases, this work becomes heavier each year
and takes up more time. From March until September the two Inspectors in charge of
registration have to devote practically all their energies to this matter. A new scheme was
formulated during the autumn, which it is hoped will save time and secure a more speedy
completion of the work.
Overcrowding.—The cases of "legal" overcrowding discovered in houses let in lodgings
during the year numbered 69 (as against 298 in 1904), viz., 54 on registration, 8 at the annual
