The 8 deaths all occurred in hospital. The fatalities prevailing among the cases from
the different Wards ranged from 2.3 per cent. (Westbourne) to 4.7 per cent. (Harrow Road).
The mortality calculated by the Department as 0.05 per 1,000 persons, by the Registrar
General as 0.06, was little more than half the decennial mean rate (0.09) but equal to the
mean for the five years 1899-1903. (See below.)

The rate based on the figures published in Quarterly Reports of the Registrar-General
(0.06) was above the rates for the Adjacent Districts except that of Marvlebone (0.06).
Sec Table 14. On the other hand, the local rate (either 0.05 or 0.06) is the lowest of all
the rates given in Table 15.
