The causes of death are indicated in Table 28. It will be seen that the number of deaths
from each cause was below the average, except in the case of "measles" (20 cases last year,
compared with an average of 11), "injury at birth" (3 deaths, average 1), and "rickets" (3
deaths, average 1).

Included under this heading are deaths from diarrhoea, epidemic or zymotic enteritis
and enteritis, from which causes 99 deaths at all ages were recorded during the year.
The death-rate was 0.65 per 1,000 persons. The deaths ascribed to diarrhoea numbered 55,
and were equal to a rate of 0.36 per 1,000 persons of all ages, being just half the mean-rate
