Instead of taking the number of persons to the
acre, the density may be measured by the area
of land occupied by the average individual. On this
basis the density of the whole Parish was, in 1896,
equivalent to an allowance of 0*009 of an acre per
individual. The Supplement to the Fifty-fifth
Annual Report of Registrar-General gives the density
of the population of Paddington for cach decennium
since 1841, from which it appears that since that date
