METEOROLOGY.
The results of the observations taken at Greenwich,
as recorded week by week in the RegistrarGeneral's
Weekly Returns, are summarised in Table
VII. in the Appendix, last year's figures being there
compared with those for the two years immediately
preceding from the same source. Two other Tables
have been prepared giving the quarterly and annual
totals and means. The first (Table 28) is based on
the observations made at Greenwich, and the second
(Table 29) on observations taken at Camden Square.
The latter Table has been compiled to ascertain
the differences, if any, between observations made
at Greenwich, which is several miles from Paddington,
and those at the nearest known station. It will
be noticed that the barometric readings vary to an
insignificant extent, and that the mean temperature
for the year was the same at both stations, but the
