The 1,942 deaths of parishioners comprised 972
of males and 970 of females, the death-rates therefrom
being 18.58 and 13.06 per 1,000 individuals of each sex.
The death-rate among males during 1896 was below the
rates for 1895 and 1893 but above that for 1894, whilst
the rate for females was the lowest for the four years
1893-96. (See Table 16).
The death-rate (both sexes) in North Paddington
was 17.09 and that in South Paddington, 10.57 per
