HOME HELP SERVICE
Heavy demands continued to be made on the home help service, and this was reflected
in an increase of approximately 2.5 per cent. in the number of households being
served at the end of the year. Details of the service then being provided, with corresponding
figures for 1966 appear below.
Very heavy pressure continued to fall on the staff of the Rushey Green Home Help
Office. Unavoidable delays occurred in the adaptation of new premises at Grove
Park, to serve as a fourth home help office to relieve the strain. The work was however
well advanced by the end of the year, and it is hoped that it will open early in 1968.
Staff training in the form of lectures by senior officers on different aspects of the
work of the Health Department continued. The object is to indicate that the home
help is a valued member of the Health team. These have proved popular with home
helps and supervisory staff.
