Commenting on the year's work, Dr. J. M. Morgan, director of
the south-east London mass x-ray, service, states:—
"The total of 3,881 examinations included 1,712 X-rayed during
visits to firms : 1,161 during brief visits to public centres, mainly for
men over forty-five : 865 in homes and hospitals and 143 at a school.
Of the three cases of significant tuberculosis discovered, one was found
at a firm, one in a hospital and the third among the kitchen staff in a
girl's school. After deducting 550 repeat examinations from the total of
3,881 X-rayed, the incidence of tuberculosis requiring close supervision
or treatment was 0.9 per thousand."
