House-to-house inspections
Detailed inspections have been made of houses in certain roads
in the borough where the age of the property is such that a moderate
amount of work may be necessary to put the houses into a reasonable
condition, but where the age and condition of the property is not such
as to indicate clearance or demolition procedure.
One sanitary inspector has been employed for this purpose during
a part of the year; during this time 180 houses were inspected, and
111 intimation notices and 12 statutory notices served.
Clearance areas and individual unfit houses
The following is a copy of a return made to the Ministry of Local
Government and Housing relating to action taken under the Housing
Acts, 1936 to 1949 during the period April 1, 1945 to March 31, 1951
and showing the position at the end of the period:—
