Progress was made with the clearance of unfit houses, and
representations were made to the Council in regard to ten
Clearance Areas. Subsequent to the holding of Public Enquiries at
the Town Hall, the Order was confirmed by the Ministry of
Health, one house in a Catford Area being excluded from the Order
in view of the offer of works submitted by the owner.
In conclusion, I desire to express my appreciation of the kind
consideration accorded me by the Chairman and members of the
Public Health and Maternity and Child Welfare Committees, and to
thank my colleagues, the Chief Officers of Departments and the
staff of the Public Health Department for their loyal support and
assistance.
I am, Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
JOHN W. MILLER,
Medical Officer of Health.
Town Hall, Catford, S.E.6.
July, 1938.
