Rag Flock Acts, 1911 and 1918.
There are no manufacturers of or wholesale dealers in rag
flock in the Borough, and no action under the Acts has been
necessary during the year.
Offensive Trades.
No offensive trades are established in the Borough.
Rats and Mice (Destruction) Act, 1919.
During the year, 256 investigations were made into complaints
of alleged rat infestation. In 101 instances, defective drains were
found to be responsible, and in 93 instances the contributory cause
was found elsewhere. The complaint was unfounded in 62 cases.
Smoke Abatement.
During the year 248 observations were made by the Sanitary
Inspectors for the detection of nuisances arising from the emission
of smoke, and as a result notices were served in 18 instances. The
institution of legal proceedings was not necessary in any case.
