INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
Milk Supply.
Dairies and Milkshops.—The number of premises registered
under the provisions of the Milk and Dairies Order, 1926, is 152, and
in addition, 142 retailers were registered for the sale of milk in
oottles or cartons, it being a condition that the milk is not to be sold
otherwise than in the closed and unopened receptacles in which it
was delivered to the premises.
The inspections of these premises during the year numbered
516.
Cowhouses.—There is now only one licensed cowhouse in the
Borough.
Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1923.—Licences for the
production or sale of milk under the designations provided by the
above-named Order were issued for the year 1935 as follows : —

Bacteriological Examination of Milk.—The designations and numbers of the samples examined are shown in the following summarY : —

Certified Milk.—(Standard: —Not more than 30,000 bacteria in
one c.c., and no Coliform Bacillus in 1/10 c.c.).
Five samples of this grade of milk, consigned in bottles to
retailers in the Borough, were taken and examined at the request of
the Ministry of Health. All conformed to the required standard.
"Grade A" (Tuberculin Tested) Milk.—(Standard:—Not more
than 200,000 bacteria per c.c., and no Coliform Bacillus 1/100 c.c.).
