whether they will by resolution apply the Act to all or any of the
following animals: —sheep, ewes, wethers, rams and lambs, the said
animals being exempt in any area in which no such resolution is in
force, and the local authority may by resolution exempt goats or
kids or both from the Act. In view of the fact that the Ministry
of Health have expressed the opinion that there is nothing in the
present Act which renders the London County Council Bye-law
inoperative, the Council did not consider it necessary that a specific
resolution should be adopted for the purpose of including sheep in
the provisions of the Act.
In connection with the administration of the Act, the Council
decided—
(a) that the Medical Officer of Health and each of the
Sanitary Inspectors be appointed officers for the purposes of the
Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933;
(b) that the licences to slaughtermen under the Act be
granted for a period of one year, terminable on the 31st
December, and
(c) that a fee of 2s. be charged for the original licence,
and Is. for each subsequent renewal thereof.
Unsound. Food.—The following quantities of meat, fish, etc.,
were surrendered as unfit for food, and destroyed: —

Hams, 10 stones; Fish, various, 25 stones; Winkles, 2 boxes;
Rabbits, 36 boxes; Tomatoes, 20 stones.
Registration of Food Premises.—Section 5 of the London County
Council (General Powers) Act, 1932, requires the registration with
the Local Authority of all premises used for the preparation or
manufacture of sausages, or for the potting, pressing, pickling, or

At the end of the year 292 premises were on the register,
