in each case it was decided to order the demolition of all the
buildings in each area, and in pursuance of Part I of the Housing
Act, 1930, and of the First Schedule thereto a clearance order was
made in respect of such properties.
A local public Inquiry in regard to the orders made by the
Council in respect of the two areas was held at the Town Hall on
the 26th November, 1934. The Inspector heard the evidence or
statements submitted by, or on behalf of, ten objecting tenants, the
objections in the majority of cases being on the ground that they
were not in a position to pay any increased rent or travelling
expenses. The Minister of Health subsequently confirmed the clearance
orders.
