(6) Removal of children suffering from complications to
suitable Hospital, such as the Children's Hospital,
Great Ormond Street, and Shadwell Children's
Hospital, where special provision is made for
such cases.
The London County Council undertakes to ascertain, through
its School Nursing Service, Teaching and School Attendance
Staff, the earliest possible information of cases of measles. As
soon as a district shows signs of becoming invaded, arrangements
are made for the School Nurse to pay a daily visit to
the schools affected with measles. She at once excludes all
children suspected of developing the disease, and informs the.
Divisional Officer (Education) of any suspicious absentees. Any
cases of measles thus disclosed are reported at once to the
Borough Medical Officer, and he arranges for home visiting,
domiciliary nursing assistance, or removal to Hospital, as the
circumstances dictate.
At the end of the year the Council decided to carry out
the scheme in this Borough, and authority was given for the
engaging of two Temporary Assistant Health Visitors to visit
the cases in their homes.
