The Council are at present proceeding with a scheme under
the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924, for the provision
of 60 flats (20 flats containing 3 bedrooms and 40 containing
2 bedrooms) on a site already in the ownership of the
Council at Winchfield Road, Lower Sydenham.
The rents to be charged for these properties have not yet
been definitely determined, but an eflort is being made in this
scheme to meet the needs of some of the very poor people living
in the immediate neighbourhood, and with this in view, it is
hoped that it will be possible to fix inclusive rentals of 10s.
per week for three bedroom flats and 8s. 6d. per week for two
bedroom flats.
