PRIORITY DENTAL SERVICE
Staff for this service, which provides dental treatment for expectant and
nursing mothers and children under five years, are jointly employed by the Inner
London Education Authority and the Borough except that dental surgery
assistants are Borough employees. Details of staffing are given under the School
Dental Service Report.
There has again been an increase of attendances of pre-schoolchildren,
expectant and nursing mothers in relation to the previous year.
99 sessions were devoted by dental officers or the dental auxiliary to the
treatment of these priority groups, including 17 sessions for Health Education.
There were also 27 sessions for the inspection of 3 year old children under the
3rd birthday card Scheme. Parents attending with their children have been
given advice on dental care and offered an appointment for their children either
for treatment or re-inspection at a surgery. 2 talks have been given on dental
health to Mothers Clubs.
Provision is also made for the dental treatment of children at Shirley Oaks
on one whole day per week.
