FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS - HOSPITAL/LOCAL AUTHORITY
During the year discussions commenced with St. Thomas' Hospital regarding
the development of a comprehensive psychiatric service for the Borough based on
the South Western Hospital, Landor Road. The scheme will include a psychiatric
in-patient unit and a psycho-geriatric assessment unit with in-patient beds and a
day hospital. The local authority will participate fully in the project and will be
responsible for the administration and management of a day centre for the mentally
ill which will be sited on the hospital premises.
