Work required to be done for Drains, Sanitary Conveniences and Premises
Consequent upon Notices served by the Public Health Inspectors, the
Council, in pursuance of their powers under the above Acts, carried out works in
default in 40 cases.
SEALING OF DISUSED DRAINS
Many infestations of rats can be traced to dis-used drains from demolished
property not being properly sealed from the sewer. In many cases there are no
drainage plans of these old premises, and it is a long and tedious job to trace
the run of the drains.
258 drains were sealed under the supervision of the drainage assistant.
734 drainage systems were tested in respect of new premises and
312 tested in existing premises.
