DISINFECTION
The following is a summary of the work carried out by the staff of the Wanless
Road Disinfecting Station

The rooms were sprayed with a preparation of 5 per cent D.D.T. Lindane
with Pybuthrin as a "Knockdown".
A large number of complaints of insect infestation were dealt with by the
disinfecting staff. The cause of the complaints were wood boring beetles, ants,
cockroaches, carpet beetles, spider beetles, clothes moths, silver fish and wasps.
The total number of visits made by the staff of the Disinfecting Station for
all purposes was 2,342.
PREVEN HON OF DAMAGE RY PESTS ACT 1949
During the year the Rodent Officer and his staff were transferred to Wanless
Road Depot, because of shortage of accommodation at Offley Road. Although not
administratively efficient, there has been no reduction in the service to the public.
The staff was strengthened during the year by the appointment of a Senior
Rodent Operator who acts as Deputy to the Rodent Officer.
There was one meeting of the area Pest Control Committee, organised by the
Ministry of Argriculture, Fisheries and Food during the year attended by the Chief
Public Health Inspector and the Rodent Officer.
