GENERAL
Health Education
Health education is undertaken by the professional and technical officers
of the department in the course of their normal duties. Talks have been given to
various organisations on subjects associated with the work of the department,
and related subjects. Opportunity is taken at the annual "Key-of-the Door"
party organised each year by the Council to place on display some aspect of
public health work. Publicity material is displayed on notice boards and leaflets
are distributed in Council premises and throughout the Borough.
A departmental Health Education Sub-committee, including representative
field workers, meets monthly to discuss health propaganda, the mass media to
be employed, to initiate displays and exhibitions, to inform the field workers
employed in the department of new developments, trends and techniques generally
and to appraise new health education material which becomes available.
Liaison is maintained with the Public Relations Department of the Council.
Use is made of the posters and pamphlets produced and provided free of
charge to local authorities by the Ministry of Health material issued by the
Central Council of Health Education.
