SECTION E
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
AND FOOD PREMISES
Among changes in the food processing industry in the borough the
allowing are reported. Two ice-cream manufacturers with nation wide
distribution have merged with another large manufacturer operating outside
the district with the result that in West Norwood one factory has closed
down and the other in North Lambeth is in the process of closing down.
The increasing popularity of soft ice-cream has however brought
with it a need for additional supervision and details of the work done in
this connection may be found under the sub-heading "Bacteriological and
other Examinations" in the Report.
A butter factory has moved to new premises outside the borough. The
vacated factory has since been occupied by a provisions company producing
sausages and other meat products.
