In conclusion, and on presenting to the Council my last official
Report, I am in the fortunate position of being able to state that
all my schemes, suggested during my 32 years of service, have been
inaugurated by the Council, with the exception of the two following
important subjects, the consideration of which, before final decisions
by the Council thereon, have been adjourned for the opinions
(official) of my successor (Dr. Thompson):—
1. The proposed appointment of a female assistant medical
officer of Health for maternity and child welfare purposes
(detailed work);
2. The provision of a new, up-to-date, much-needed
Central Tuberculosis Dispensary, worthy of the Borough
of Lambeth.
I wish you all an official" good-bye."
I am, Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Your obedient Servant,
JOSEPH PRIESTLEY,
Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive
Tuberculosis Officer.
