There was an increase in the numbers treated for scabies by some 45% in 1967 - 707
compared with 488 in the previous year. The numbers treated for vermin infestations, however,
showed a slight decrease from 475 to 396.
Bacteriological Examinations
The number of specimens sent to the Public Health Laboratory, County Hall, S.E.I, for
bacteriological examination was 5,784. This compared with a total of 4,831 specimens
submitted last year. The annual fluctuations are due mainly to the extent of dysentery
outbreaks in any particular year.
