Photograph 7 shows the extent of damage in a basement outbreak. No. 8 shows the
spread up to staircase and landing at second floor level which damage could
have prevented had there been installed at ground floor level a proper basement
cut off door and screen as shown in 9. In this case four lives would almost
certainly have been saved.
