Prevention of Damage by Pests Act, 1949
Rodent Infestations
The Rodent Officer and his staff were accommodated at Finsbury Health Centre very
shortly after the amalgamation of Islington and Finsbury in April. A considerable
amount of administrative work was involved in the changeover, including the gradual
run-down of the former Finsbury business contracts. There were 269 in operation on 1st
April but the number had been reduced to 116 at the end of the year.
In respect of the new London Borough, 1,753 complaints of rodent infestation were
received during the year under review, an increase of 236 compared with the total for
the two Metropolitan Boroughs for 1964. Details of inspections and visits by the
rodent investigators and operators are recorded below.
