Only seven formal notices were served during the year under Section 15 due to
/

As many of the tenants of houses in multiple occupation are at work during the
day time, Inspectors of necessity have had to visit during evening hours. It is quite
evident that control of this type of property demands such visits outside normal hours
of duty,
Public Health (London) Act, 1936
Closing orders were made under this Act a considerable time ago in respect of two
houses in the Borough. One property was demolished and in the second case upon
application by the Owner to the North London Magistrate the Order was determined this
year, evidence being given by the Inspector that the house was now fit for habitation
Miscellaneous
During the year 24 Closing Orders made in respect of whole houses and 31 Closing
Orders made in respect of parts of buildings were determined upon the owners carrying
out works to render the premises fit for human habitation. In many cases, these
properties were brought up to a higher standard than the requirements of Section 4 of
the Housing Act, 1957, and baths and separate water closet accommodation provided.
