Nurseries and Child Minders Regulation Act, 1948.
At the end of the year there were 105 children being minded by 20 child minders
registered by the L.C.C. under the provisions of the Nurseries and Child Minders
Regulation Act, 1948. There were also two private day nurseries registered under the
Act providing 33 places;
Foot Clinics
Foot clinics are provided at East Islington Welfare Centre at Drayton Park, South
Islington Welfare Centre at Clephane Road and at the Junction Road Congregational Church
for'priority cases' - the aged, expectant mothers and the physically handicapped, During
the year the total attendances at these clinics were as follows:-
East Centre South Centre Junction Road
4,455 2,365 320
Many Islington residents attend the main foot clinic at Pine street at Pinsbury
where the total attendances were 14,789.
Home Helps
The home help area is administered from three area offices in the Division. Each
of the three areas covers part of Islington and together cover the whole Borough. The
total number of households in the Division receiving home helps on 31st December, 1962
was 1,784.
