Staff and
General
It is with pleasure that I again express my personal thanks for the work done during
the year to Dr J P.J Burns Deputy Medical Officer of Health and to the principal
representatives of the public health team in their respective sections - Mr W. C Bartlett
Chief Public Health Inspector Mr. H. Plinston, Deputy Chief Public Health Inspector and
Mr E.J Sharp Chief Clerk
The fact that the preventive health services in Islington are administered by two
separate Authorities - the Borough Council in respect of the environmental health services
and the London County Council in respect of the personal health services has necessitated
liaison between the respective health departments carried out in the most co-operative
spirit if the greatest benefits to the public are to be obtained This situation has
continued over the years and it is with pleasure therefore that I express personal thanks
to Dr Wilfred G Harding, Divisional Medical Officer Health Division 3 and his staff for
the happy manner in which this liaison has been carried out in practice.
I am pleased also to record again my appreciation to the two principal Committees
concerned with the work of the Public Health Department and their respective Chairmen
during the year namely Alderman A J Rogers of the Public Health Committee, and Councillor
E J Bayliss of the Housing Committee for their support and consideration of the many
matters and reports I have been privileged to place before them
V. FREEMAN
