Tuberculosis
The number of deaths due to tuberculosis of the lungs, whilst still comparatively low
was higher than the previous year when I reported on the number of deaths being the lowest
ever recorded With new cases, however, there was a slight fall of some 78% The
distribution of cases as in former years, differs between the sexes. In adult males the new
cases, as will be seen from the table, are spread fairly evenly throughout the age groups,
In females, on the other hand, the greatest proportion of new cases is in adolescents and
young women under the age of 35, accounting for over 50% of all new cases of tuberculosis
in females at all ages.
