All diseased or unfit meat was disposed of for use as knacker s meat or in the manufacture
of animal feeding preparations.
Of the 666 horses slaughtered for human consumption, 562 were intended for export.

Slaughtermen' s Licences.
During the year two new Licences were issued and fourteen Licences renewed Fifteen
slaughtermen held current Licences at 31st December
Export Certificates - Food
21 export certificates were issued in respect of consignments of ox tongues tinned soups
chicken products and ox tongue and ham spreads The goods were exported to Canada USA
Australia and Sweden respectively.
