In accordance with the requirements of the Public Health (Meat) Regulations, 1924 /52,notices were received during the year in respect of the intended slaughter of animals for human consumption. Details of action taken are as follows:-

Generalised and totally condemned------

All diseased or unfit meat was disposed of for use as knacker* s meat or in
the manufacture of animal feeding preparations.
Of the 707 horses slaughtered for human consumption, 598 were intended for
export.
A case of generalised Xanthosis occurred in a cow aged between 6-7 years.
Normally discolouration - brownish in character appears in the heart, tongue and
muscles of mastication, but in this instance discolouration was generalised
throughout. The condition is due to pathological changes in the adrenal body.

During the year one new Licence was issued and twelve Licences renewed.
Thirteen slaughtermen held current Licences at 31st December.
